How we support people

A diagnosis of blood cancer can have a significant impact on a person’s finances and daily life. Patients may face challenges coping with the effects of their illness or treatment. They may need to take time off work, manage travel costs or navigate complex benefits systems.

Our welfare advisers provide guidance on a wide range of issues. These include benefits applications, financial support, and employment rights. Plus, ways to manage the practical challenges that can arise during treatment.

Our team helps people understand what support they may be entitled to. They guide them through the process of applying for benefits or financial help. This support can make a significant difference to people. Especially when already dealing with the emotional and physical impact of their illness.

In 2025, our welfare advice service:

  • Supported 465 people
  • Including help with benefits applications, budgeting advice and guidance on accessing financial support

Our welfare advice service provides clear and practical guidance to people. This helps them with money, admin and practical challenges that can arise when living with blood cancer.
