Support group impact
Leukaemia Care’s support groups bring together people with blood cancer. Online or in person, people can share experiences and ask questions. Our groups help patients and carers connect with others who understand their situation.
How we support people
Living with blood cancer can sometimes feel isolating. Our support groups provide a safe and welcoming space for patients and families. They can talk about their experiences and learn from others facing similar challenges.
Our groups are both online and in person, allowing people across the UK to take part in a way that suits them. Some sessions also include expert speakers, such as haematologists and clinical nurse specialists. These are information, and Question-and-Answer sessions. They enable people to learn about treatments, side effects and life with blood cancer.
Support groups help people feel more connected and informed. They also offer the opportunity to share practical advice and encouragement with others.
In 2025, through our support group service:
- 692 people attended more than 100 support group sessions
- 23 sessions included expert speakers providing information and guidance.
Our support groups play an important role for people affected by blood cancer. It's where they can build connections, share experiences and learn from others.
What people say about our support groups
It is lovely to see and hear everyone. We may have a range of these diseases and be at different stages, but our core experiences are similar and it is great that we have these opportunities to share and lift and encourage one another.
I especially found the discussions around fatigue interesting and useful. I thought it was just me.
