Support group impact

Leukaemia Care’s support groups bring people affected by blood cancer together to share experiences, ask questions and connect with others who understand their situation.

How we support people

Living with blood cancer can sometimes feel isolating. Support groups provide a safe and welcoming space where patients and families can talk openly about their experiences and learn from others who are facing similar challenges.

Our groups are held both online and in person, allowing people across the UK to take part in a way that suits them. Some sessions also include expert speakers, such as healthcare professionals, who provide information and answer questions about treatment, side effects and living with blood cancer.

These groups help people feel more connected and informed while also offering the opportunity to share practical advice and encouragement with others.

In 2025, 692 people attended more than 100 support group sessions, with 23 sessions including expert speakers who provided additional information and guidance.

Support groups continue to play an important role in helping people build connections, share experiences and learn from others affected by blood cancer.

What people say about our support groups

It is lovely to see/hear everyone. We may have a range of these diseases and be at different stages, but our core experiences are similar and it is great that we have these opportunities to share and lift and encourage one another. Thanks, and best wishes to you all.

I especially found the discussions around fatigue interesting and useful.  I thought it was just me
