Raising awareness
Leukaemia Care works to raise awareness of leukaemia and related blood cancers so that more people recognise the signs and symptoms and seek medical advice earlier.
How we support people
Each year, around 10,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with leukaemia. A significant proportion of these diagnoses happen in emergency settings, such as A&E, which can be linked to poorer outcomes. Raising awareness of symptoms and encouraging people to seek help earlier can play an important role in improving diagnosis and treatment.
Through our Spot Leukaemia campaign and other awareness activities, we work to ensure that more people recognise the possible signs of blood cancer and feel confident speaking to a GP or healthcare professional if something does not feel right.
In 2025, the Spot Leukaemia campaign reached audiences through outdoor advertising, radio, podcasts, social media and news coverage. The campaign helped raise awareness of the symptoms of leukaemia and encouraged people to take action if they were concerned about their health.
Campaign activity during the year included billboard advertising seen more than 430,000 times, podcast advertising delivered across 854 podcasts, and over 120 pieces of press coverage highlighting the symptoms of leukaemia.
Alongside public awareness campaigns, Leukaemia Care also works with healthcare professionals and partner organisations to improve understanding of blood cancer and support earlier diagnosis.
By increasing awareness of symptoms and improving understanding of blood cancer, this work helps more people recognise potential warning signs and seek medical advice sooner.
