Want to support blood cancer patients, but feeling hindered by the cold weather? Don’t worry, we have a list of winter-proof fundraising ideas you can get stuck into below.
Bake sales are a fundraising staple as they’re easy to organise and guaranteed to raise money. So, why not host a bake sale with a warming twist and include delicious hot chocolate as part of your offerings? Or, hold a hot chocolate morning in place of a coffee morning!
Organising a quiz night at your local is a great winter fundraiser, as the weather won’t get in the way.
Contact your local pub landlady or landlord and ask if you could hold a quiz night there in aid of Leukaemia Care. Pubs tend to love quiz nights as it brings in patrons, so it’s a win-win for both of you!
Are you part of a social club already? Could you incorporate a fundraising event into your activities?
We’ve had theatre clubs, darts clubs and rotaries all organise events for us, ranging from discos to dance shows to sponsored walks.
Dress down day
Could you hold a small fundraising event at your workplace instead? Dress down days are easy to organise, and everyone will appreciate one! Just charge people a small amount to wear casual clothes to work.
Raffle it off
A raffle is a classic fundraiser, and unlikely to be affected by the weather! Contact some local businesses to source some raffles prizes (we can provide you with a letter of authority) and hold a small raffle or auction.
We’ve had a number of fundraisers host their own Come Dine With Me events. Ask your friends and family to take part and get your warming recipes on the go. The best cook wins, just charge them to take part, or for diners to attend.
Chicken soup for the soul
Have a soup-off! Which of your friends, family or colleagues makes the best soup? Turn it into a competition and get lots of people to vote for their favourite. It’s sure to cheer everyone up on a cold winter’s day.
Give it up
Over indulged the last few months? Give up alcohol, sugar, crisps – whatever your vice – for a month and get people to sponsor you. Feel the health benefits whilst doing something amazing for blood cancer patients.
