September Fundraising: Highlighting our community

We want to celebrate the incredible work of our fundraisers, take a look at the amazing things they've achieved during Blood Cancer Awareness Month!

As blood cancer awareness month comes to a close, we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated, fundraised, and volunteered to help spread awareness about the services and support we provide here at Leukaemia Care. Fundraising is an important part of what we do here, so we would love to celebrate some of the things our supporters have been up to across the month of September by sharing them with you!

Swim Serpentine

A HUGE thank you to all the fabulous TEAMLC swimmers that took part in Swim Serpentine on Saturday 16th September to support Leukaemia Care! Our swimmers took on the Super Six, One Mile, Two Miles AND The London Classics, we are so very proud of you all!

Edinburgh Kilt Walk 2023

On Sunday 17th September, a 30 strong team of walkers took to the streets of Edinburgh to participate in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk. With their TeamLC

shirts, various tartans and smiles on their faces, they walked 5, 15 or 21 miles to raise money for Leukaemia Care. Each walker finished with a medal and a huge sense of pride! Well done TeamLC!

PetTrailer UK’s 6th Annual Charity Trail Day

Alexia teamed up with PetTrailer UK with the help of Becky Smith to dedicate their 6th annual Charity Trail to raise money for Leukaemia Care, after her mum had been diagnosed with CMML late last year. Alexia expressed her gratitude for Leukaemia Care and said that “we couldn’t have done it as a family without some of their information sheets and the supportive links they have. For that I, and my family, will be eternally grateful.”

The fundraiser raised a total of £1,001 and will help us to continue to provide the  information and support that helped her mum to the 10,000 people who receive a Leukaemia Diagnosis each year.

Jessica’s Birthday Fundraiser

Jessica held a birthday fundraiser with her friends – raising £290!

Dalata Digs Deep!

Our corporate partner Dalata ramped up their fundraising efforts throughout September as part of blood cancer awareness month with ‘Dalata Digs Deep’. As part of this the Maldron hotel in Glasgow city hosted a range of activities such as ‘wear it red’ week, Bungee jumping, guess the eggs in the jar, Kiltwalk, and a virtual cycle, to raise funds in support of those living with leukaemia. A massive thank you to everyone that has taken part in the activities hosted by the Maldron hotel in Glasgow city so far, which have raised a staggering £5035!

SikaCycle in memory of colleague Rebecca

In memory of their much-loved colleague Rebecca Clarkson, a team of 100+ Sika employees and their friends and family completed a 50 or 100 mile course in beautiful Aviemore, Scotland to raise vital funds for Leukaemia Care.  A massive thank you to Sika and all those involved, including Rebecca’s family, who helped raise over £20,000. Their incredible fundraising efforts in Rebecca’s honour will help many, many leukaemia patients and their families access support and financial assistance when they need it most.
