Walk the Fan Dance on behalf of Leukaemia Care

Join us on May 18th for the ultimate walking challenge and walk the special forces SAS Fan Dance route, climbing to the summit of the Pen Y Fan and down Jacobs Ladder!

This challenge will be led by the 3x winner of the SAS selection challenge, Anthony Taylor. Tony will take you on along the same route used by the SAS and give you a taste of what it would be like to take on this ultimate challenge all while supporting blood cancer patients.

Even though you will be walking this route, you will need to have a good level of fitness and be able to walk at least 15 miles on rough terrain.

On the day

On the day Tony and the Leukaemia Care team will meet you at the iconic red telephone starting point where the challenge will begin.

Starting at 9am you will leave the telephone start point where you will start your 2 miles walk to the top of the summit, the Pen Y Fan (roughly 2000 feet). From here you will have the chance to get some amazing photos as well as recharge those batteries.

From Pen Y Fan you will descend Jacobs Ladder to the Roman Road, we continue along the Roman Road at mile 7 you will reach the turnaround point. Here you will meet the Leukaemia Care team, who will offer some refreshments for a short 15-minute break.

From here you will retrace your steps back up the Roman Road and ascend the iconic climb Jacobs Ladder to the summit of  Pen  Y Fan. After a short break, you will then head down the summit to the start point.

Total walking time will be a minimum of 6 hours not including breaks.

Please note: There will be toilet facilities near the start point; however, during the challenge, such facilities will be limited to the great outdoors!

Fundraising deadline

At least £80 of the £100 sponsorship target will need to be reached by Friday 3rd May. Remaining monies must be sent to Leukaemia Care within six weeks of completing the event.
