Chris has been a Trustee of Leukaemia CARE since 1999 and Chairman since 2015. Having held the Office of Chair on two previous occasions and becoming Deputy Chair during intervening periods. Company Director and Chartered Secretary with wide business interests in the North of England. Chris has extensive board, senior management experience in private, public and charitable sectors. Having held a number of senior public appointments at both national and regional levels in a variety of fields.
In addition, Chris is Chairman of Chair of More Time (UK) Ltd., a Social Enterprise Company, and Vice Chair of DISC (Developing Initiatives Supporting Communities). DISC is all about the promotion of inclusivity and the provision of help and assistance for disadvantaged and socially excluded members of society. This covers a wide range of services, the largest of which relates to drug and alcohol recovery and rehabilitation.
Chris’ involvement with Leukaemia CARE began as a direct result of the death of a close family member from acute myeloid leukaemia.
Albert is married with three adult children and four grandchildren and lives in Leeds. He is a lifelong supporter of Leeds Rhinos and enjoys hill walking, running and gardening.
Previously a Chairman of Leukaemia CARE, Albert is a Chartered Accountant and spent 25 years in practice in the West Midlands. He had a broad client portfolio including many family companies and Third Sector organisations. On retirement in 2010, he returned to his native Yorkshire. In addition to being a Trustee of Leukaemia Care he is a Governor of Shipley FE College, in historic Saltaire.
Douglas was appointed as a Trustee some six years ago and wanted to give something back after the care and kindness he received when he had cancer himself. With experience in banking and directorship, Douglas has provided careful guidance for the future of Leukaemia CARE. “ I will continue to support the charity and hopefully one day, everybody will enjoy a better life.” As a chairman of the Round Table and Rotary Club, Doug is passionate about the work involved in fundraising and helps see that the funds raised are used to benefit blood cancer patients and their family.
Kris has delivered results for a number of sectors including education, third sector, military, Premier League football and many TV licences including Doctor Who, The Prisoner and Thunderbirds. He is equally efficient working internationally, with government departments or to a local audience. Kris is a published writer, video blogger, school Governor, charity trustee, experienced patient advocate (with a familiarity of parliamentary lobbying) and a dedicated marketing and social media practitioner. He has worked with US newsrooms that include CNN, Fox News and CBC, and received a commendation from US security agencies for his research work following 9/11.
Recently, Kris supported two of the Trojan Horse schools in Birmingham for two years and was part of the team who brought both schools out of special measures and into an Ofsted Good category. As well as working at director level on the senior leadership team at Ormiston Forge Academy, a secondary school in Sandwell, Kris supports other schools in all forms of marketing and communication needs.
Wendy is a Chartered Accountant and is a partner in CK Chartered Accountants, which is based in Dudley. She has worked for CK since leaving University in 1987. In addition to her client-facing role she is head of Technical Compliance and Audit and Assurance. She also acts as auditor and advisor to a number of not-for-profit organisations. As a long term cancer survivor, she was keen to use her knowledge of the not-for-profit sector to support a charity which focuses on supporting cancer patients. She also is a Trustee of Get Ahead, another independent cancer charity based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
Wendy is married with two grown-up children and lives in Worcestershire. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, exercising, socialising with friends and shopping.
