Patient Journals now available to all

  • Leukaemia CARE patient journals

The journals are designed to support blood cancer patients through their treatment journey. The patient-focused document aims to equip them with the information they need to make informed choices and decisions. The journals have already been distributed in hospitals in England and Scotland and have been well-received by patients and medical professionals.

We originally launched our Patient Journals last year and until now, they have only been given to patients who are receiving treatment within hospital. They have been so popular with patients, the charity is now giving the free journals out to anybody who has received a blood cancer diagnosis.

The journals feature chapters on the different treatment options, as well as information on side effects, financial information and the emotional impact of a diagnosis. There are also handy record sheets and a diary section.

Nickey Bate, CARE Team Leader at Leukaemia CARE, said: “Making our patient journals available to all blood cancer patients means that we can support many more people during a difficult time. Not all blood cancer patients receive treatment within hospital, and there are many patients who are on the ‘watch and wait’ list who don’t receive any treatment for quite some time. However, these people may benefit from a patient-led document where they can record their thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences.”

The Patient Journal is accredited by the Information Standard, a certification scheme for health and care information.

If you or someone you know could benefit from one of our Patient Journals, please call 01905 755977 or email us.
