New product helps those with Hickman line

After being diagnosed with aplastic anaemia in 2007, Sarah Cheeseman was treated at King’s College Hospital, where she had a Hickman line inserted to receive treatment and blood transfusions. It was having a Hickman Line herself and realising just how cumbersome and inconvenient living with it could be that led her to develop the Central Line Holder.

Hickman Lines can be difficult to care for and inconvenient to wear, which can increase the risk of infection. The central line holder is a simple but effective product that features a specially designed pouch, which could help to reduce infection risks.

Sarah is now working hard to promote the product amongst hospitals up and down the UK and encourage them to stock the Central Line Holder.

Do you work in a hospital? If you would like five Central Line Holders for your hospital, all you need to do is display leaflets. Email for more information.

Long term, Sarah plans to make enough money to be able to donate to blood cancer charities. She said: “I would be delighted if my leaflets could be in every NHS hospital and for the holders to be on prescription for outpatients, because I believe they are invaluable.”
