Blood cancer support for people in Sheffield

We've recently relaunched our Royal Hallamshire Support Group, which is now called Sheffield Haematology Support Group.

The group meets every month at the Cancer Support Centre near Weston Park Hospital and welcomes patients living with or beyond blood cancer whether they are recently diagnosed, have recently completed treatment or are 10 years post diagnosis. Carers and family member are also invited to come along for support, reassurance and advice.

At each meeting, the group is joined by a different guest speaker and provides the chance to chat to others who understand what they are going through over a cup of tea.

Nickey Bate, Care Engagement Officer at Leukaemia CARE, said: “We decided to relaunch the support group after finding that there was a real need for support in Sheffield and the surrounding areas. Many patients require support outside of hospital care, or between appointments, and that’s where we come in. Anyone who is affected by blood cancer will receive face-to-face support at whatever stage of the journey they are on.”

For details on the next meeting, visit the group's webpage or call the CARE Line on 08088 010 444.
