We are delighted to announce that internationally renowned opera singer, Beverley Worboys, is now one of our Patrons.

Beverley, who is a leading soprano, is hoping that her patronage will help to raise awareness of our charity and blood cancers amongst new audiences.

Beverley said: “Through my work, I’m fortunate to know many people across a variety of fields including the arts, science, politics and education and I look forward to bringing Leukaemia CARE to their attention. I hope there will be many opportunities to spread the word about Leukaemia CARE and hope to combine my event organising skills, as well as the help of some of my talented colleagues, to put on a world-class fundraising concert.”

After losing several family members to cancer over the years, Beverley has a particular interest in the early diagnosis of the disease and will be helping to launch and raise awareness of our e-learning course for GPs which will help them to help detect the disease sooner.

Beverley said: “The idea that some blood cancers can be picked up by a simple blood test is hugely encouraging. Any awareness that I can raise in terms of recognising the symptoms is of great importance to me. Knowing what to look for is the first step and I want to bring this to as many people's attention as possible.”

“I'm very excited to be taking on this responsibility and I consider it a great privilege to be asked to become a Patron. Bring it on!”

Monica Izmajlowicz, Chief Executive at Leukaemia CARE, said: “We are thrilled Beverley is supporting the charity as our Patron. Awareness of blood cancers is crucial and it’s people like Beverley who can really help to drive that awareness forward.”

Originally born in Kidderminster in the Midlands, Beverley now divides her time between her home in Bewdley, Worcestershire and family life in Basel, Switzerland with her husband and seven year old daughter.

As a leading soprano she is much in demand as a concert soloist and recording artist. She also has her hands full as she runs an international private vocal coaching studio in Basel and is Director of English Chamber Opera.

She has substantial experience in organising charity concerts including recent events for Basel Children Cancer Foundation.
