What is campaigning and advocacy?

As a charity we are actively involved in campaigning on behalf of patients and their carers, which we feel is an important part of the work that we do. We are passionate about doing everything we can to improve the experience of patients throughout their cancer journey.

The work of our Campaigning and Advocacy department involves representing the views of patients to policy makers and regulatory bodies in order to ensure that their views are taken into account. We campaign for any improvement we can on behalf of blood cancer patients, but our main areas of focus are:

  • Patient wellbeing
  • NHS funding
  • The availability of drugs and treatment.

In order to ensure we use our influence to affect policies on behalf of patients, we work closely with other cancer charities, patient advocate groups and cancer and health ‘umbrella’ groups which lobby on behalf of cancer patients.
