Super Summer Fundraising

The British summertime weather might be changeable, but don’t let that put you off, as the summer holidays are the perfect time to get stuck into some fundraising. So, whether you’d like to host an event or take on a challenge, we have some super summer fundraising ideas for you.

Wet ‘n wild party

In this warm weather, it’s important that you cool down, and what better way than with a wet ‘n wild party? Water slides, water guns and a BBQ are a match made in heaven. All you need to do is invite your friends, family and neighbours round, and charge them a small entry fee.

Summer fete

Fetes are a summertime staple, so why not organise your own? This may seem daunting, but it’s a brilliant way to not only raise money, but also raise awareness.

First off, you’ll need to source a venue. A community centre is a good place to start, as it’s easily accessible to the public and has all the facilities you’ll need. A pub may also be a good choice.

Once you’ve got your location, you’ll need to organise the events. Coconut shy, hook a duck, tombola, face painting, a bouncy castle – the list is endless, and the variety of events is sure to appeal to a wide audience.

Now that you’ve got your venue and decided on your events, you’ll just need to promote the fete. Don’t be afraid to get in touch with the Fundraising Team for promotional materials such as banners, posters and balloons. Just email, or call 01905 755 977.

The Communications Team would also be happy to write a press release for your local newspaper. You can contact them at

Alternatively, if a local fete has already been organised, ask if you can have a stall to sell cakes or host a challenge, with all proceeds going to charity.

Sports tournament

A sports tournament is a versatile event. Whether you just want to challenge your friends and family, invite your local community, host it at your place of work, or at a school, the choice is up to you.

You could try a football match, a tennis tournament, or take on some athletic events. All you need to do is charge people a fee to compete.

If you’d still like to get active, but feel a sports tournament isn’t your style, then what about a walk-a-thon?

Get friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you on a walk through the beautiful British countryside. Just set your target distance, invest in some good walking boots, and get fundraising!

Pub crawl

When the sun comes out in Britain, you can bet the pub gardens will be full! Take advantage of the good weather and organise a pub crawl with your local pubs and bars. Advertise it in your area, and ask the pubs to agree on donating a set amount of their takings on the day to charity.

If any of these ideas catch your eye, why not get in touch with our Fundraising Team to discuss them? Just email or call 01905 755 977.
