You may have already made some personal resolutions, but what about making one that could benefit others, as well as yourself?

If you fancy making a meaningful pact for 2014, how about signing up for an event of a lifetime to raise funds which will help support those with a blood cancer?

Only 10% of people actually stick to their new year’s resolutions due to lack of motivation or setting unrealistic targets for themselves. But what better way to stay motivated than signing up for a once in a lifetime event and staying on-track with a fundraising target to help a worthy cause? If you know you have to do it and you’re doing it for someone else as well as yourself, you’re more likely to stick to it.

Not only will committing to taking part in a charity event mean you stick to your New Year’s resolution, but you will become fitter, healthier, more positive and motivated as you hit your training and fundraising targets.

Even though community fundraising is a valuable activity, there are bigger and more exhilarating events you can get your teeth into. The more exciting and different your chosen event is, the more likely sponsors will support you in something new and challenging.

There are events to suit everyone; from the adrenaline seekers who opt for a skydive, to the stamina hungry who feel more at home running 26-miles in the London Marathon and even those who fancy something a bit different and sailing across the Channel.

Inspirational ideas

Virgin Money London Marathon - 13th April 2014

Three Peaks Challenge - 31st May 2014

Prudential RideLondon - 10th August 2014

Trek Kilimanjaro - 15th August - 24th August 2014

Signing up for a charity event can be exciting, but can also seem daunting when you have to juggle a full-time job or studies with training and raising money. Joining Team LC will mean that you get support every step of the way; from regular updates, hints and tips, to training vests, t-shirts and support materials to help kick-start your fundraising and ensure it’s a success.

So, if you’re fed up with making empty New Year’s resolutions that are already broken before the end of January, have a go at setting an incredible personal goal and get yourself involved in a real challenge that will not only reward you, but will be helping others too.

Good luck!
