Often, many people give something up for Lent in an effort to live healthier. But what if instead of giving up, you gave back? Lent is the perfect opportunity to support a charity and do something that will not only make you feel good, but help others too.

So, we have three quick and easy ideas for ways you can give back this Lent.

Give £1 a day

Lent lasts 40 days, so by giving £1 a day, you could raise £40 for us! Even just £1 a week for the duration of Lent would provide us with enough to fund our online GP resource, helping to ensure that patients face shorter delays in diagnosis.

Collect recyclables

Did you know that you’re able to recycle a whole host of items with us? It doesn’t cost you a penny, but it means we get donations from the recycling companies.

So, start hoarding your stamps or inkjet printer cartridges, or gather up your old mobile phones or spare foreign currency, and recycle them with us at the end of Lent.

For a list of all the recyclables we accept, and how you can send them to us, head here.

One particularly simple way of giving back this Lent is to get involved with us on social media. By sharing or even just liking our posts, you could help raise awareness.

As a result, that one post you share on Facebook about the signs and symptoms of blood cancer could be what convinces someone that their symptoms warrant an urgent trip to the GP.

You can find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Become a collecting tin hero

Collecting tins are a simple way to raise a good amount of money without having to spend a penny yourself.

Grab seven collecting tins, one for each week of Lent, and place one a week in a local shop, takeaway or pub. Then, all you have to do is wait for them to fill up and collect them!

Our tins can hold up to £25, so by placing seven tins, you could raise an impressive £175!

Take on a challenge

Want to try something even more worthwhile? Then take on a challenge for us this Lent! We have a huge selection of events you can sign up for on our website. From 10K runs to marathons, obstacle courses to skydives, and treks in the Lake District to treks up Mount Kilimanjaro, there’s something to suit everyone.

This way, you can tick something off your bucket list this Lent and feel even better than if you’d just given up sweets.

You can find all of our events here. For more information on any of the events, contact us on
