Providing support to anyone affected by blood cancer
Fundraising for charity may sound like hard work, but it doesn’t have to be. In fact, there are many ways you can help raise money and awareness in a short amount of time.
As we rely solely on donations, our fundraisers are the beating heart of our charity, helping us in our efforts to support anyone affected by blood cancer. If you could spare just 30 minutes of your time to fundraise for us, or even just to help raise awareness of blood cancer and the work we do, then you could make a real difference.
So, check out our guide below for ideas on how you can fundraise and raise awareness in a pinch.
One of the simplest ways to raise money for us is to take a few of our collecting tins and distribute them amongst local businesses. Becoming a collecting tin hero would use up no more than a couple of hours of your time a month. All you have to do is hand out the tins we send you and then wait for them to fill up!
Each collecting tin can hold around £25 – so you could raise £100 just by taking four of our tins.
If you’d like to become a collecting tin hero, email email@example.com, or call her on 01905 755 977.
Nowadays, it’s easier than ever to make a real impact on healthcare legislation from the comfort of your own home (or office chair!). Online petitions allow supporters to campaign for what they believe in and reach a wider audience than ever before.
It only takes a few minutes to sign and share an online petition. Back in March, we campaigned with Prostate Cancer UK and other charities for NHS England and NICE to scrap plans that would delay vital treatments reaching patients. The petition reached 29,000 signatures, and whilst NHS England and NICE are still going ahead with their plans, more signatures will continue to apply pressure that may cause them to rethink.
We’ll always share petitions that are relevant to those affected by blood cancer, so keep an eye out for them on our social media channels and on websites such as petition.parliament.uk and Change.org.
Just like sharing petitions online can make a difference, so can sharing our social media and blog posts. By sharing our posts, you could let someone know that there’s a charity out there that can support them through their blood cancer diagnosis. Or, you could inspire someone to fundraise for us, or to share their story so that others know they’re not alone.
Clicking that share button may not seem like a big deal, but it could have a bigger impact than you think.
Did you know we can recycle your unwanted items for you? From stamps to currency, and mobile phones to inkjet printer cartridges, you can send your recyclables to us and we receive a donation from the recycling companies.
So, if you have a few spare minutes on your lunch break, why not have a root around for loose change, or cut off the stamps from all the letters that are sent to the office?
Here at Leukaemia CARE HQ, we even found some very old mobile phones! You’ll be surprised by what you can find and recycle.

One final way to help raise awareness is simply to tell a friend. Word of mouth is in fact an excellent way to spread the word of what we do. You never know who it might reach.
