As we rely solely on donations, our fundraisers are a vital part of what we do. They help us to continue to support those affected by blood cancer, whether they’re a patient, a family member, or a friend. So, here’s a short round-up of some of the amazing things our fundraisers have been up to.

Chris Harrop conquers the North Pole

Chris Harrop was preparing for the trip of a lifetime to the North Pole when a routine medical exam revealed that he had chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML).

However, Chris was determined not to let the diagnosis stop him. Despite taking daily chemotherapy, he continued with his trip to the North Pole and successfully reached it on 14th April.

In the process, Chris raised a staggering £5,950 for Leukaemia CARE, with donations still coming in!

Quiz queen

On 13th April, Rachel Gill hosted a quiz night at the Slug and Lettuce in Edinburgh.

Rachel wanted to organise a fundraising event after her niece was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) in July 2016.

The event was a great success, with 18 teams participating and over 90 people attending, raising over £1,000 for LC.

Superstar sister

10-year-old Kerry had wanted to do something in memory of her sister’s friend Catherine, who sadly passed away from leukaemia in January at the age of 22.

So, Kerry decided to cut off her hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust, as well as getting sponsorship for doing so. Overall, Kerry raised a brilliant £135 for LC!

You shall go to the ball

On April 21st, Rachel Brice hosted a Spring Ball in memory of her dad, who lost his battle with leukaemia at age 37.

The ball raised a fantastic £3,000, and the funds were split between Leukaemia CARE and the British Lung Foundation.

Come Dine With Kim

Kim Thornhill hosted a ‘Come Dine With Me’ event on 29th April for 14 friends and neighbours, with food generously donated by local supermarkets.

Special guests included a naked chef and internet sensation Tambo Man, with the night raising £771!
