Leukaemia CARE is delighted to announce that Elspeth Rolls has been appointed as the charity's new Chief Executive, and will be taking up her position from 20th April 2009. This follows Tony Gavin, former Chief Executive, relinquishing his role leaving him free to concentrate on patient advocacy and cancer campaigning for the charity, which is a job that he has a keen interest in.
Elspeth has a wealth of experience that will prove beneficial to Leukaemia CARE having previously worked in both the public and private sector, and over the last 11 years, the voluntary sector. She will be leaving a Deputy Chief Executive post at Community First, a non-profit infrastructure organisation which supports charities and community groups around the Worcestershire and Herefordshire areas.
By initially observing the way in which Leukaemia CARE works and investigating what patients and carers want and value in the charity, Elspeth hopes to use her time at Leukaemia CARE to build upon its existing services and work towards forging new relationships with other charities, working together to make the best of our resources. “It is such a challenging time for charities, I want to ensure that everything is as effectively as possible. I am passionate about helping people develop to their full potential,” explains Elspeth.
Elspeth is excited about joining the charity: “Leukaemia CARE feels like a community with very committed staff, volunteers and trustees all working together to support a large number of people who are facing bleak and challenging times. I feel privileged to be involved in this valuable work,” she says.
