You could be a patient, carer, family member or friend who might,
among other things, need:

• A listening ear or a friend – sometimes you just need to talk to
someone who you are sure will understand

Help and information on diet, fatigue, hair loss etc – we have
booklets that provide more information

Financial assistance – paying bills, transport for hospital visits, advice on welfare and benefits

Information on alternative treatments, like homeopathy or aromatherapy, or relaxation techniques like Reiki or massage

Information on travel insurance and other financial services – we can put you in touch with organisations where grants be applied for

To talk about bereavement and/or palliative care

To know how to support a patient or carer who might not be related, such as a pupil, neighbour or work colleague

“I never forgot the warmth and advice I was offered by the CARE Team and the way they, above all other support groups, were always there to fall back on.” Alan Mason

Using your mobile just got cheaper!

Call the CARE Line free* from your mobile on 0808 801 0444 (*from most major networks)

When patients need to spend periods at a time in hospital, being able to speak to the CARE Line when you want is vital. However, until now, unless you called the freephone number from a landline, you had to pay for the call. We are pleased to announce that patients can now dial 0808 801 0444 from their mobile phones and be connected to our CARE Line day or night - without it costing a penny! Most of the major networks are taking part, including 3, Orange, Virgin, Vodafone, T-mobile and O2.

As the rules for using mobile phones in hospitals have been relaxed, we have been working with the Telephone Helplines Association to persuade the major mobile phone networks to enable callers to dial a freephone number which will connect them to our CARE Line.
